Personal Development
Coming Home to the Tribe
School for Wonder Contemplative Community

"Coming Home to the Tribe" Personal Development began on April 23, 2010. This 3-year community building project for contemplative learning will combine mentoring, retreats and events around the world, on an as-requested basis. Coming Home to the Tribe is your personal opportunity to embrace the tribe within, and participate in any way that you feel called.

The School for Wonder is currently building resonant community with global partners, and the following notes reflect the daily activities and heart connections that color our world.

I woke up in the night hearing, "Self-circumference emerging as all-inclusive universal love." What is self-circumference, if our energy is omni-directional? Most of civilization only uses about 45 degrees of our 360-degrees of awareness. If you think of a slice of pie in front of your body, about 45 degrees wide, that is what we are taught to rely on. "See only what's in front of you, think only of what you want, let the mind tell you to fear looking outside of that tiny slice of pie."

Personal Development Mentoring is our offering, along with retreats, to cultivate courage, creativity and self-awareness.

As our personal development expands to shine beside us, behind us, within us, we learn to lean back, experience the safety of balanced insight. The area behind our hearts is memory-free, like clear water running as source energy. We put our focus there, and breathe in the present moment. We literally get behind ourselves, feel the mind let go of fear as the body relaxes, breathing with 360 degrees of awareness. Peripheral vision and intuition cannot operate without 360 degrees of awareness. Safety is naturally available to us. Egoic thinking dissolves, into the whole heart of courage.

When the individual sphere of awareness (self-circumference) localizes in everyday action for the highest good, realization of union expands to inter-galactic connectivity and infinity.

When we experience total resolve within, harmony is released into the atmosphere through our being. Divine presence becomes resonance within the body, as fulfilling purpose is actualized by attending to that resonant quality in daily action.

As we deepen our own willingness to catalyze others to harmony, our vibration expands to higher levels of reach, forming choral connectivity in the spheres. Universal courage is cultivated through every moment of awareness. The colors of universal courage are emerging through our expression of that awareness.

Stillness is the deep feminine container for gestation. Being quiet, turning within for answers, we awaken dormant essence, and experience joy naturally. As we integrate effervescent joy with intentional one-pointed focus, marrying feminine and masculine within ourselves, we become magnetic to our own energy.

When we magnetize to our own energy, we stabilize relationships with clear, clean energy. We stop pulling at others magnetically, trying to get what they have, and attract who we have always wanted to be, fulfilled and energized. When we are magnetic to our own resonance in the universe, balancing polarities through joy and focused intention, we ground the world around us in essential wisdom.

Personal development is our birthright. The School for Wonder is a vessel for cultivating courage, creativity and community on retreats or in mentoring conversations. Conscious evolution is our common calling. Come home to the tribe within.

April 26, 2010

Our first "Coming Home to the Tribe" event was held this weekend. Hosts Ellen and Tim at Sacred Grove Retreat Center in Gold Hill, North Carolina brought us together, and I think we were all surprised by what happened.

We talked about how each of us are limiting the full potential of coming home to the tribe in our daily lives. Sacred Grove Retreat Center gave us a beautiful background to see possibilities, and how each of us can take fuller responsibility for ourselves

Personal development means something different to each of us. There were seven humans who came and went, three dogs, two rabbits, a fat bumblebee and many winged ones flew in and out of view. The land at Sacred Grove is lovely, with stunning colorful flowers and vegetables, rolling green lawns and forests surrounding eleven acres. Luscious new tufts of spring waved at us on the front porch of the log cabin from every direction, and walking the labyrinth in the early morning after a light rain was amazing.

There are several houses on the property at Sacred Grove, including a large two-story log cabin with a great porch for sitting, a beautiful three-bedroom home adjacent to the labyrinth and circle of oak trees, around an energy vortex discovered on the land. The large yurt is ringed with djembe drums and seating for the many concerts, workshops and ceremonies that have been hosted by Ellen and Tim.

Everywhere I turned I saw more loving attention had been given to the earth, the buildings and the shaping of beautiful sacred areas.

Conversation was mixed with laughter, synchronicity, stories, silence and differences of opinion. Our original plan to brainstorm School for Wonder events fell to the wayside, as questions, challenges and health concerns colored moments of our conversation. Suggested solutions, abstaining from contact and communication styles took us all much deeper than we expected. We each took a turn at mirroring each other, and floundered in moments for lack of knowledge about how to embrace our differences and newness to each other.

Realizing the power of conscious choice, intention and reflecting on personal growth work in our histories were fascinating ways we chose to come home to each other. It was humbling to see the trust and warm love that followed tense moments, in the face of serious change being brought to the table. I wept in the arms of a group hug I will never forget, before driving away from this amazing group and awesome sanctuary.

The power of this personal development homecoming gave me the courage to sing at the memorial for Judy Gardner that afternoon, back in Durham. As I stood in a group of about fifty neighbors, friends and family in Judy's garden, her granddaughter released twenty butterflies to honor all of our lives.

Coming home to the tribe in each moment is a blessing beyond words. May we live our lives fully, in harmony, lovingly.
