Being fully present is the secret of an outstanding leader. We all wonder how to keep from living in the past, or slipping into fear of the future. Without practical knowledge of what it is in life that brings us fulfillment, we sometimes make a vertical climb in our careers, or a quick descent, wondering why we don't feel connected, energized, inspired. We know we want things to change, and find ourselves on the outside, looking in.
I found myself facing serious injuries, dealing with chronic pain, and scared to death that my dream of the School for Wonder would never really get beyond the local scene.Personal development includes having the ability to liberate ourselves from old, unwanted patterns in personality. It gives us the opportunity to serve higher interests, and be giving in all aspects of our lives. Learning to integrate personality into homelife, workplace and community means seeing who we are more clearly, and being motivated to grow and change. Transforming from thinking about what we want, to realizing who we are is natural leadership. We grow up thinking friends, family, looks, thoughts, taste in clothes, material things and feelings constitute who we are. As we evolve into wiser adults we sense there is something missing, but we aren't always sure how to define what it is. We are afraid of the unfamiliar, so we keep repeating old habits. I took a big leap into the unknown, and faced the fears that I had carried around all my life. The doctors told me I would end up a quadriplegic if I didn't have surgery, and I learned to defy gravity. I went on with my life in a healthy, balanced way and am virtually pain free without surgery, and my business is successful. I learned to turn within and remember the essential self, and my heart became light as a bird. Creativity is the vehicle for service I give in the world, and my community expanded into the galaxies. We can go along for years, thinking of ourselves in ways that don't match up with how we live and how others experience us. We lose sight of the personal development interests and passion we had, and how to navigate in honest and meaningful ways that keep us inspired. The mind loves to think about itself. That is it’s job! When we find ourselves wanting to go deeper than thoughts, to get off the train of following our whims, and live a more fulfilling life, we need to learn to pause, to notice what is really happening. We can learn to see the difference between what is ONLY happening in the mind, and what is ACTUALLY happening. What is actually happening now is this website connects me to people all over the world.
